OpenRisk XSoC project started
OpenRisk XSoC project started as opensource public project.
OpenRisk XSoC is project aimed on creation of solid base for system on chip development with Linux on board. Project includes "hardware" part containing OpenRisc 1200 soft CPU and set of peripherals form opencores.org, and "software" part containing utilities, tests, bootloaders and micromonitor. Another big part of project is port of current Linux kernel and GCC toolchain to that SoC. Most of work on this project aimed on Xilinx Spartan3 development boards because those boards are relatively cheap and powerful. Besides it, we have enough such boards as teaching equipment.
Projects are heavily based on developments of OpenCores.org and are not forks of related projects but complementary parts of.
Initial work was done by Andrey Popelo as master thesises under supervision of sr. lecturer Oleksiy Lukin. Work is not complete now but we decided to publish preliminary results to allow people join the project and to collect information on project site. Hope that more students will join to this exiting work.
